Pre-Treatment

The quality starts here. This phase of the powder coating process begins at the receiving area and passes through pre-hanging, cleaning/treatment, oven drying and the masking areas.

Proper identification, cleaning, treatment and preparation of the substrate is the corner stone for a quality powder coated finish.

The process is basically the same on the power conveyor line or in the batch system. Photos depict the batch system.

After receiving the product and an inspection of the substrate, the parts enter stage one of the powder coating procedure. Here the metal substrate is cleaned and etched by heated water, chemical and pressure.

This is done either manually for batch purposes or by processing through different stages of a wash on a power conveyor line.

Heat, Chemical and Pressure are used.

The Moisture needs to be removed. In the batch system, the product is then moved to the Dry-Off Oven where excess moisture is removed by applying heat.

On the conveyor line the part travels through an inline dry-off oven.
The entire process of preparing the substrate for the powder coating is critical. Dirt, oil, corrosion and moisture will inhibit a lasting, quality powder coated finish. Product is ready for Powder Coating when thoroughly dry.
Masking and Plugging Prior to powder application all required items are plugged or masked. Masking is generally used for threaded items, spindles, electronic equipment grounds, etc.

After this phase of the Powder Coating Procedure the product is ready for powder coating.
